My father has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital twice, and our overall experience has been very positive. Security and Access: Security is well-managed. Bags are scanned at the entrance, and visitor passes are required to access certain floors. Elevators are always manned, and the attendants are helpful in guiding you to the right floor, though during peak times there can be a wait. A big plus is the readiness of staff with wheelchairs when bringing patients for OPD visits or admission – this makes movement within the hospital smooth and stress-free. Admission and Rooms: Both admissions were quick and hassle-free, with room options and costs explained clearly. The first time, we had to choose the triple-sharing room (the only other option was an executive suite, which was beyond our budget). The triple-sharing room was decent, but the washroom could be better and the recliner provided for the attendant was uncomfortable. The second time, we stayed in the twin-sharing room, and the difference was significant. The facilities were much better, the washroom was clean, and there was a proper resting area for the attendant, which made a huge difference in comfort. Care and Staff: The hospital staff were consistently kind and attentive. The male orderlies were patient, friendly, and paid attention to patient comfort. The nursing staff were exceptional – quick to respond, patient, and caring. Doctors and Medical Team: The doctors were excellent. They spent time explaining the patient’s condition and treatment options in detail to both the patient and the family. Their clarity, professionalism, and reassuring approach gave us a lot of confidence. Food and Diet Services: Food quality was decent and timely. The catering staff were regular and punctual, and the dietitian deserves a special mention for taking genuine interest in the patient’s needs and preferences. Billing and Payments: Billing was transparent and systematic. Detailed, itemized statements were emailed regularly, including midnight updates, which made it easy to keep track of expenses and outstanding amounts. Reports and Dispatch: This is one area that could improve. Collecting reports after discharge was inconvenient. Some reports were at the dispatch counter, while others had to be collected from individual departments. Even though the results were ready, some were not printed, and we had to remind staff about missing reports. A centralized collection point or emailed copies would greatly help patients and families. Canteen: The canteen on the second floor operates on fixed meal timings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is reasonably good, though nothing exceptional. Overall Experience: Lilavati Hospital stands out for its quality of care, professional staff, and transparent processes. The doctors are excellent and thorough, the nurses are patient and caring, and the entire staff – from security to catering – is polite and friendly, which makes a stressful time a little easier. While there is room for improvement in areas like the triple-sharing facilities and report collection, the overall patient care and experience were excellent. It’s a hospital we would trust and return to if needed.
